Illyrian is a boy’s name of Greek origin, meaning “ancient tribe name.” The Illyrians were an ancient Indo-European people who inhabited a large portion of the western Balkans during the Iron Age and Classical antiquity. The Illyrians occupied an area roughly corresponding to modern-day Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, and parts of Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Illyrian is also the name of a star in the constellation of Leo Minor.
