However, in modern times, it is more commonly a female name due to the feminine -a ending. In David’s list of mighty-men Adina is mentioned as son of Shiza of Reuben (1 Chronicles 11:42). Adina may also be related to the Hebrew word ‘edna, meaning delight or luxury.
