Anakin Meaning and Origin

The name Anakin is most notably associated with the “Star Wars” franchise created by George Lucas. Anakin Skywalker is a central character in the Star Wars saga and is depicted as the Jedi who later becomes the Sith Lord Darth Vader. The name itself was created by George Lucas for his prequel trilogy, with the first film titled “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” released in 1999. Prior to the release of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” the name Anakin was virtually unheard of in the mainstream.
