Lesina is a girl’s place name of Italian origin. Lesina (less-e-nah) is an Italian town in the province of Foggia, in the Apulia region of southeast Italy. It is also an island in the Adriatic Sea, forming part of Dalmatia, Austria. In 385 B.C., a Greek colony built a city on the site of the present Lesina, the island was betrayed to the Romans by Demetrius and throughout the middle ages, it remained a Slavonic community.
