Acrux Meaning and Origin

Acrux is a combination of “A” from Alpha which is a designation given to the brightest celestial object of a constellation, and “crux” which is the name of the constellation. A name combining star constellations of alpha and crux which means first or strongest and cross. Acrux is actually a binary star system, meaning that it is composed of two stars orbiting around a common center of mass.
